Prior to joining Fletcher Inspections Inc in 2005, Derek was a full time licensed builder/remodeling contractor. His career in the building trades began in San Francisco, California in 1977 renovating Victorian homes and buildings. He also worked for several years as a mortgage loan officer and for several years as a licensed Realtor™. Retuning to Michigan, in 1980, he opened and operated two Kitchen & Bathroom Design/Remodeling showrooms and cabinet shops that served both new construction and remodeling clients. In 1990 he expanded his contracting services to include all types of remodeling for residential and commercial buildings. In 2000 he competed the “National Association of Home Builder” CAPS training program and earned his “Certified Aging in Place Contractors”, designation, renovating homes to accommodate clients needs as they grow older. Born of Deaf parents, he can speak ASL (American Sign Language) and communicate with deaf clients.
Derek brings to the inspection process his background in real estate. His goal is to assist buyers in evaluating properties they are considering for purchase. He inspects each property for his clients with the same scrutiny, as if a close family member were buying it. Taking time on each inspection to explain how things work and how to maintain your new home.
While Derek still holds an active builders license, #2101141952, he is a full time certified home inspector with Fletcher Inspections Inc and is close to completing 2,000 home inspections. Available for inspections seven days a week, and most holidays, Derek looks forward to meeting and working with you on your home inspection.
